雖然過世的 Joe Strummer 不一定在乎這個獎, 但在當年的葛萊美頒獎典禮上,90年代著名樂團 Rage Against the Machine 的吉他手 Tom Morello 的致詞不僅是對 The Clash 最動人的禮讚,也是對搖滾理想主義的最好闡述..

The Clash (衝擊樂團) 的主唱 Joe Strummer 在2002年12月22日過世了。
2003年的葛萊美獎頒獎典禮上,美國搖滾精神代表 Bruce Springsteen 和龐克浪潮存活下來且堅持理念的 Elvis Costello, 以及 Nirvana 鼓手 (現在是 Foo Figters 主唱) Dave Grohl , 一起表演 The Clash 的經典名曲 " London Calling " 。
這一年, The Clash 也入選了搖滾名人堂。
